Joint pain and ASD

When I was 12 I started to get severe joint pain in my knees and elbows. I started to crack them on a hourly basics to keep the pressure and some of the pain under control. To this day I have to do this and now I where braces on my knees and elbows to help with the pain. My doc says it is caused by low muscle tone in the joints and the tendons having to do all the work without help from the muscles. In the last 5 years or so I have also been getting severe left hip pain because I have been leaning on my left leg to keep some of the pressure off of my right leg which is in worse shape then the left leg. It gets so bad that I can not stand or walk and can not sleep because of how bad the pain is.

  1. Have you talked to your doc about an exercise routine to help your muscle tone? Any chance you could join a gym and work with a personal trainer for awhile?

    1. I got a exercise routine and have been using it for years and years and years with no luck. I went to the gym and did workouts especially for the knees and did them 3 times a week for 2 years and still with no luck. All my effort at the gym would ware off in a day and I worked out for over a hour each time I went and the results just never happened. I do not think that my muscles are able to strengthen. They are missing some key ingredient to make the muscles retain the workout.

  3. My son (almost 9 yrs old) has been complaining of leg pain in the mornings a lot lately. I was thinking they were just growing pains but now I am concerned. Another thing to talk to the FX team about. Zane has low muscle tone in his legs and hips that was DX as a toddler. :( So sorry you have to live with pain. I wonder if Glucosamine could help with the pain?

    1. I used to take glucosamine and it did not seem to make a difference but I have found that acidy foods and drinks sure do. Like oranges and their juice, grapefruits and their juice, and stuff like that with lots of acid in it. So I have had to stop having acidy stuff and it does help but I still get some pain if I stand too long or walk to long.
